JTBC’s “King the Land” has shared an emotional sneak peek of its upcoming episode!

“King the Land” is a romantic comedy about the unlikely love story between Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (Girls’ Generation’s YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.

Spoilers
Previously on “King the Land,” Gu Won struggled with his trauma about fake smiles caused by his painful memories of his mother’s sudden disappearance when he was a child. Although he returned to Korea and the King Hotel in order to look for information about his vanished mother, he made up his mind not to think about her anymore after hearing her friend explain that she’d had no choice but to leave him behind.

However, at the end of the latest episode of the drama, Gu Won was shocked to see his long-lost mother Han Mi So (Nam Gi Ae) suddenly standing before him again.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Gu Won stops in his tracks when he encounters his mother, whose gaze is both longing and bittersweet as she takes in the sight of her grown-up son. However, in stark contrast to her gentle smile, Gu Won’s expression is ice-cold as he sits down to talk to his mother for the first time in many years.

A heartbreaking final photo shows Gu Won bursting into tears after his conversation with his mother. While he feigned an aloof, uncaring expression during their reunion, the moment he is alone again and can take off his mask, he breaks down sobbing—to the point where he has to lean against the wall to stand properly.

To find out why Gu Won’s mother has returned to see him—and what the two of them have to say to one another—tune in to the penultimate episode of “King the Land” on August 5 at 10:30 p.m. KST!

Girls’ Generation’s YoonA will face an unexpected choice on the next episode of JTBC’s “King the Land”!

“King the Land” is a romantic comedy about the unlikely love story between Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.

On the previous episode of “King the Land,” Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang struggled with the fallout of their relationship being made public. After the news of their romance shook up the King Hotel, Gu Won’s father Gu Il Hoon (Son Byung Ho) ultimately transferred Cheon Sa Rang to the King Tourist Hotel while his son was away on a business trip.

All too aware that Gu Il Hoon’s request was not actually a request but an order, Cheon Sa Rang had no choice but to accept her demotion and transfer to the King Tourist Hotel, which was widely known as a “place of exile” among the hotel staff. There, she was unexpectedly reunited with Park Bo Yeon (Gong Yi Yeon), with whom she had previously worked together at the King Hotel when she was just starting out as a rookie employee.

In the drama’s upcoming episode, Gu Won rushes to the King Tourist Hotel after returning to Korea, and he winds up staying there in order to spend time with Cheon Sa Rang. Newly released stills from the episode capture the smitten couple smiling lovingly at each other from across a table, revealing just how happy they are to be back together after missing one another for so long.

However, Cheon Sa Rang also ends up in the midst of an unforeseen conflict between her colleague Park Bo Yeon and Gu Won, both of whom stare intently at her with slightly pressuring smiles. The amusing image of the pair seemingly waiting for Cheon Sa Rang to choose between them raises the question of what kind of situation the trio will find themselves in during the next episode.

To find out what happens at the King Tourist Hotel—and whether Cheon Sa Rang will be able to return to the King Hotel—catch the next episode of “King the Land” on August 5 at 10:30 p.m. KST!
