Could ATEEZ be singing the anthem for this year’s League of Legends World Championship?

Earlier this month, ATEEZ paid a visit to Riot Games’ headquarters in Los Angeles, leading to speculation in the eSports sphere that the group might be involved in the highly-anticipated anthem for the upcoming 2023 League of Legends World Championship in Korea.

Rumors have also been swirling about a potential male version of K/DA, the virtual girl group made up of popular League of Legends champions that Riot Games first created in 2018. (Among other artists, members of (G)I-DLE and TWICE have lent their voices to K/DA for different songs over the years.)

On August 28 local time, Riot Games added fuel to the ongoing speculation by posting photos of ATEEZ’s visit to their offices on social media.

Notably, the photos were specifically posted to Riot Games Music’s social media accounts, seemingly increasing the probability that a music collaboration between ATEEZ and the game developer is in the works.

ATEEZ’s Jongho To Undergo Surgery + Go On Temporary Hiatus During Recovery

ATEEZ’s Jongho will be going on a temporary hiatus in order to undergo surgery.

Last week, Jongho abruptly returned to Korea after experiencing “extreme pain” in his leg while in Los Angeles for KCON LA 2023. Jongho, who had previously suffered both an ankle injury and a meniscus rupture in the past, flew back home to be diagnosed and treated while the rest of the group traveled to Mexico for the Latin American leg of their ongoing “THE FELLOWSHIP : BREAK THE WALL” world tour.

On August 26, KQ Entertainment announced that after being examined by a doctor, “Jongho was recommended to undergo surgery and receive intensive management” for his existing injury. The agency also stated that Jongho would be temporarily sitting out all of ATEEZ’s activities in order to focus on his rehabilitation post-surgery.

KQ Entertainment’s full English announcement is as follows:

Hello,
This is KQ Entertainment.

Please read the following notice regarding ATEEZ member Jongho’s health condition and status for future schedules.

While Jongho was [already] undergoing conservative treatment and recovery for a meniscus rupture, it was determined that detailed examination and additional measures were necessary. As a result, Jongho immediately stopped his overseas schedules and returned to Korea to receive treatment at a specialized medical institution.

After a thorough examination, Jongho was recommended to undergo surgery and receive intensive management for the existing injured area. As a result, ATEEZ will continue with seven members for upcoming schedules while Jongho undergoes rehabilitation after the surgery.

We ask for your understanding regarding the decision to prioritize Jongho’s prompt recovery, and we will update you once he is ready to return to the group’s schedule.

Thank you.

Wishing Jongho a speedy and full recovery!

ATEEZ’s Jongho Halts Activities + Returns To Korea Due To “Extreme Pain” In Leg

ATEEZ’s Jongho has temporarily halted all activities due to health concerns.

On August 20 local time, KQ Entertainment announced that Jongho—who is currently in Los Angeles for KCON LA 2023—would be returning to Korea to be diagnosed and treated after experiencing “extreme pain” in his leg.

The agency explained that while Jongho had previously been diagnosed with a meniscus rupture after his last ankle injury, he had opted for “conservative treatment” due to his “strong will” to continue performing on stage.

KQ Entertainment’s full English announcement is as follows:

Hello,
This is KQ Entertainment.

It is with utmost regret that we are sharing some updates regarding Jongho’s health to the fans who have unconditionally supported ATEEZ.

Jongho was diagnosed with a “meniscus rupture” after his last ankle injury, but because of his strong will to be on stage, he focused on conservative treatment and recovery, including injections that helped relieve pain and boost regenerative qualities.

However, after today’s event, Jongho experienced extreme pain, so we have come to the decision of immediately suspending his upcoming schedules for August 20 (local time) and having him return to Korea to conduct a thorough examination and treatment by experts.

As artist health is a top priority, we ask for your kind understanding. Updates and additional information will be given following the examination results.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the sudden news, and we will do our best to ensure Jongho’s speedy recovery.

Thank you.

Meanwhile, after wrapping up KCON LA 2023, ATEEZ is scheduled to head to Mexico for the Latin American leg of their “THE FELLOWSHIP : BREAK THE WALL” world tour, which will kick off in Mexico City on August 23.

Wishing Jongho a speedy and full recovery!
