tvN’s upcoming drama “Twinkling Watermelon” has shared the first glimpse of Ryeoun in character!

“Twinkling Watermelon” is a fantasy coming-of-age drama in which Eun Gyeol (Ryeoun), a CODA (child of deaf adult) student born with a gift for music crash lands at an unfamiliar place after time traveling through a suspicious music shop. There, he forms the band Watermelon Sugar with his father Lee Chan (Choi Hyun Wook), who was a high school student at the time, and other mysterious youths.

Ryeoun plays Eun Gyeol, the only person who can hear in his deaf family and the bridge between his family and the outside world. He’s the perfect son, consistently maintaining the top spot in his school and ever prepared to set aside everything and jump in whenever his family needs him.

Despite his image as the perfect model student whose only focus is his academics and family, Eun Gyeol conceals one secret: unbeknownst to his parents, he’s secretly a band guitarist. The newly released stills capture Eun Gyeol in his two worlds, seamlessly switching between his role as a model student by day and a band guitarist by night.

Eun Gyeol’s deep dedication to music, even to the point of concealing his identity behind a mask, stems from the fact that to him, music is a language meant only for him, rather than a tool to bridge the gap between his family and the outside world. What messages does Eun Gyeol aim to express through his music? Can he keep this secret from his family till the very end?

The production team of “Twinkling Watermelon” commented, “Eun Gyeol’s character embodies the journey of self-discovery between the ‘me’ that everyone sees and the ‘me’ that he truly is. Those approaching youth will connect with Eun Gyeol’s journey, and those who’ve already been there will feel a sense of nostalgia. The resilient energy of Ryeoun will beautifully harmonize with Eun Gyeol’s character, so please anticipate the drama a lot.”

Earlier in February, it was revealed that Park Ji Hu is in talks for the female lead role of Song Woo Yeon.
