BTS’s Jungkook continues his uninterrupted reign over Billboard’s global charts!
Back in July, Jungkook made history as the first Korean soloist to simultaneously debut a song at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Global 200, and Global Excl. U.S. chart when his solo single “Seven” (featuring Latto) entered all three charts at No. 1.
In the weeks since, “Seven” hasn’t budged from its No 1 spot on either the Global 200 or the Global Excl. U.S. chart, breaking the record (previously held by BTS’s “Dynamite”) for the most weeks at No. 1 of any song by a Korean artist.
On September 5 local time, Billboard officially announced that “Seven” had successfully defended its position at No. 1 on both global charts for the seventh week in a row—making it the first song of 2023 to spend its first seven weeks on either chart at No. 1. (Before “Seven,” the record belonged to Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers,” which spent its first six weeks on both charts at No. 1.)
During the week of August 25 to 31, “Seven” recorded an impressive 97 million streams and 12,000 digital sales worldwide.
Congratulations to Jungkook on his exciting achievement!
BTS’s V is about to take “Running Man” by storm!
On September 3, the popular SBS variety show aired an exciting sneak peek of next week’s episode, which will feature V as a guest.
The new preview begins with “Running Man” rolling out the red carpet for V, whom the show introduces as the wealthy owner of land in eight different regions in the fictional “Running Country.”
After the cast marvels at V’s good looks, the BTS member makes everyone crack up by revealing that in keeping with the theme of that day’s episode, the “Running Man” production team told him to “come dressed like a rich person.”
V then pulls Ji Suk Jin aside to whisper in his ear, “Your nose hair is sticking out.”
Once the land game officially begins, V—as the landowner—gets to personally decide how much tax he’ll charge each region. As the “Running Man” members express shock at how high the taxes are, HaHa even jokingly falls to his knees in despair. Although some of the “Running Man” members attempt to start a revolution, V’s prowess in the show’s various games doesn’t make it easy for them.
BTS’s Jungkook’s “Seven” (featuring Latto) is climbing back up the charts in the United Kingdom!
Back in July, Jungkook made history when his official solo debut single “Seven” entered the Official Singles Chart (widely regarded as the U.K. equivalent of Billboard’s Hot 100 in the United States) at No. 3, setting a new record for the highest debut of any song by a Korean soloist.
To add to that achievement, “Seven” has now become the first song by any Korean soloist to spend its first seven weeks in the top 30 of the Official Singles Chart. For the week of August 31 to September 6, “Seven” climbed back up to No. 24 in its seventh consecutive week on the chart.
“Seven” also rose to No. 42 in its seventh week on the Official Streaming Chart.
Billboard has published its World Albums chart for the week ending on September 2!
BTS’s J-Hope’s 2022 solo album “Jack In The Box” re-entered the chart at No. 1 this week following the release of its “HOPE Edition,” a brand-new physical version of the album (which was previously only available digitally or as a Weverse album). “Jack In The Box” also re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 6, making it J-Hope’s first top 10 album as a solo artist.
TWICE’s Jihyo’s solo debut mini album “ZONE” entered the World Albums chart at No. 2 this week, in addition to becoming only the second album by a female K-pop soloist ever to enter the top 15 of the Billboard 200.
After four weeks at No. 1, NewJeans’s latest mini album “Get Up” fell to No. 3 in its fifth consecutive week on the World Albums chart. “Get Up” also set a new record on the Billboard 200, where it became the first K-pop girl group album in history to spend five consecutive weeks in the top 30.
NCT DREAM’s latest album “ISTJ” debuted at No. 4 on this week’s World Albums chart, over a month after its initial release in Korea and on digital platforms. (Although “ISTJ” was originally released in Korea and on digital platforms on July 17, the physical version of the album was only released in the United States on August 18, pushing back its debut on the U.S. charts.) The album also earned NCT DREAM their highest ranking yet on the Billboard 200 this week, in addition to catapulting them to a new peak on the Artist 100.
Stray Kids’ latest album “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” stayed strong at No. 5 in its 12th consecutive week on the World Albums chart, and it also became the group’s first album ever to chart for 12 weeks on the Billboard 200.
ENHYPEN’s “DARK BLOOD” ranked No. 7 in its 13th consecutive week on the World Albums chart, in addition to becoming the group’s first album ever to spend 10 weeks o the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, BTS’s 2022 anthology album “Proof” climbed back up to No. 9 in its 63rd week on the World Albums chart.
ITZY’s latest mini album “KILL MY DOUBT” came in at No. 10 in its third week on the World Albums chart, trailed by LE SSERAFIM’s first full-length album “UNFORGIVEN” at No. 11 in its 17th week.
BTS’s Jimin’s solo debut album “FACE” took No. 12 in its 22nd week on the chart, with NewJeans’ debut EP “New Jeans” following close behind at No. 13 in its 35th non-consecutive week.
Finally, STAYC’s new mini album “TEENFRESH” debuted at No. 14 on this week’s chart.
Congratulations to all of the artists!
